Finished up in Farah on October 26 and joined a new project in Kabul doing short term startup work. Easy work in reality. Then on Wednesday October 28 all hell broke loose in Kabul. Taliban agents stormed a UN guest house in the Sharenaw area. Killing in cold blood 5 international UN employees. Vowing to disrupt the election, the Taliban says that this is their first attack as we approach the November 7 runoff election. Add Wednesday's attack in Kabul to the market bombing the same day in Peshawar, Pakistan and the bombing at the Ministry of Justice in Baghdad, Iraq the day prior. Maybe the world isn't such a friendly place.
I am still of the opinion that perhaps democracy isn't for every country and maybe a "Police State" isn't a bad thing here. And don't even get me started on Holbroke and his "Afghanizination" of US backed/paid projects. US dollars should mean jobs in senior management for US tax payers. I'll leave it at that.
